The sequel to Me Before You entitled After You by Jojo Moyes continues the story of Louisa Clark as she tries to make sense of her life after Will’s passing. She struggles with depression, a demeaning dead end job and begins going to a support group after an unfortunate accident leads her family to believe she is suicidal. The support group introduces her to some interesting people and her life takes a direction she never expected, thanks to people from Will’s past.
Surprisingly, I really enjoyed this sequel. I am usually not a fan of series like this, especially when one of the main characters isn’t a part of the remaining books, but I appreciate he was included in a different way. Louisa is relatable, she’s a mess but doing her best- aren’t we all? It was nice to see some growth from her character and I was happy this was not all about her being sad Will is gone. Overall rating: 3 stars
