One of my goals for this year is to read more books. I’ve always been a reader of pretty much any genre, except horror because I am a scaredy cat. Regrettably not so much reading has happened in the past year and I have felt as though I have been missing something in my routine. There’s a reason my family jokingly calls me Belle, I usually always have a book kept within reach.
I remember never missing the scholastic book fair. Do they still do those in school? I hope so. It was one of my favorite times of the school year and the fact we were allowed to just walk around the library looking at the displays as part of the school day was a big deal for my little elementary school-aged self. There was one year I remember barely fitting my order in my backpack at the end of the day. I was one of the lucky ones where my parents encouraged my reading habits with such enthusiasm that they often just came with me after school hours so I could pick out whatever I wanted. If having a bookworm for a daughter was the goal, they succeeded.
Currently, I am reading Anna Kendrick’s book “Scrappy Little Nobody.” A friend loaned it to me before I moved to California suggesting I might find it relatable because it revolves around Anna’s life after her move to L.A. Ironically, I can relate aside from the whole becoming famous and staring in critically acclaimed films and being nominated for Academy Awards… totally relatable.
I know I’ll be finished with it soon since I read half of it in one sitting, so if anyone has any good book reccomendations, let me know!
Collectively,
Karmen
