Top 5 Best Oat Milk Brands

03.05.21

The best oat milk for dairy-free or vegan diets.

Back in November, I was a guest blogger on Teresa Ann Moon’s blog and I did a full comprehensive guide about dairy alternatives! In that guide, I covered milk, and cheeses and offered some advice on making the switch from dairy. I know dairy is what many people struggle with most when transitioning to a plant-based diet so I compiled a list of the best oat milk brands.

Oat milk is a popular dairy alternative and great for lattes, smoothies, soups, and cereals but not all oat milk is created equal. Here are the best (and in my opinion, tastiest) oat milk options so you don’t waste your money or get discouraged by trying the not-so-good ones.

Planet Oat Extra Creamy

The best oat milk brands on KarmenCollective.com

Truthfully, I could end this list right here. Planet Oat Extra Creamy oat milk is easily my favorite. It has the best creamy texture, doesn’t taste strongly like oat, and isn’t too thick or too watery. It is also certified gluten-free and non-GMO, which is great! It is oat milk perfection and I love using it in my matcha lattes!

Chobani Plain Extra Creamy

oat milk brands

Chobani Oat has a slightly stronger oat flavor than Planet Oat. I prefer my milk to be as neutral tasting as possible so it is more versatile. However, for lattes and cereal, and smoothies, this is a great choice and it’s usually available at most grocery stores. Accessibility earns points in my book!

Oatly Oat Milk

oat milk brands

Oatly is a commonly used oat milk favorite, especially in cafes. Don’t get me wrong, I love it! It is wonderful in lattes or as a creamer for coffees, but it has a very strong oat flavor, which is not versatile enough for me to make it my #1. It also can be harder to find in stores. However, their company transparency is so progressive and I love their values and mission. I definitely get excited when I see it as a milk option at a coffee shop!

Elmhurst Oat Milk

Elmhurst Oat milk review

Elmhurst Oat milk is one you should know! Elmhurst milked oats have the most minimal ingredients with no added oils, sugars, gums, or fillers. It is certified gluten-free and non-GMO. If you want the purest shelf stable oat milk, this is the one! Taste wise, it has a subtle but noticeable oat flavor and even the unsweetened flavor has a slight sweetness but is versatile for most recipes.

Thrive Organic Oat Beverage

oat milk brands

I am always a fan of all things Thrive Market because they do staple items so well. Thrive’s oat milk is one of the few available that are organic, which is always something I look for, especially oat products. It also only has two ingredients making it one of the most simple and basic options on the market. It has a noticeable oat flavor but minimal ingredients and organic status, so it’s hard to complain.

What dairy alternatives would you like me to share next?
I love to share my recommendations and honest opinions so you don’t waste your money on products that aren’t worth it!

A cozy little book reel in honor of World Book Day A cozy little book reel in honor of World Book Day 📚

My local Barnes and Noble closed a few weeks ago and the last visit was so sad. There’s a part of me that always thought I would see a book I wrote on one of these shelves.

I’ve spent hours browsing in this store, bought every required school reading book here, with the coordinating spark notes, of course.

It’s where I would find the books that filled my beach bag every summer and shopped for gifts every Christmas.

I found my first vegan cookbook here when I was desperately looking for recipes that had ingredients I was familiar with and it was one of the first places I went when I moved back from the west coast.

There’s just nothing like your hometown Barnes and Noble 🤍

Officially the worlds longest caption about a bookstore? Leave a favorite B&N memory if you made it this far ;)
