Vegan Resources

02.08.17

It’s great that there is a growing number of vegan resources available but that also means an overwhelming amount of information to process. I created a list of some of my favorite vegan resources that I commonly reference or that helped me when starting my vegan process.

Videos: (Links to free YouTube videos)
These videos are each about an hour and are some of the most comprehensive free resources you can access. I suggest starting with these videos as they will help you determine what you want to learn more about.

*The Best Speech You’ll Ever Hear and The Follow Up Q&A
This presentation is an ethics-based approach by Gary Yourofsky. He is known for his casual lecture style videos on Youtube and animal liberation activism. As a fellow Michigander I remember hearing about him prior to going vegan. Click here to learn more about Gary and his work in the vegan community through his organization ADAPTT.

*101 Reasons to Go Vegan
Presented by The Animal Rights Foundation of Florida this presentation provides an overview of the environmental, health and ethical approaches to veganism. A well-rounded glimpse at how veganism is more than just about animal rights but also our Earth and health.

Books:
*Becoming Vegan by Brenda Davies
*Vegan for Life by Jack Norris and Virginia Messina
*Whole by Howard Jacobson and T. Colin Campbell

Documentaries: All available on Netflix. Click title to be directed to the free trailer.
Some full length documentaries can be found online for free, but due to copyright infringement are often deleted. I find Netflix to be the most reliable.
*Cowspiracy
*Forks over Knives
*Food Matters
*Vegucated

A cozy little book reel in honor of World Book Day A cozy little book reel in honor of World Book Day 📚

My local Barnes and Noble closed a few weeks ago and the last visit was so sad. There’s a part of me that always thought I would see a book I wrote on one of these shelves.

I’ve spent hours browsing in this store, bought every required school reading book here, with the coordinating spark notes, of course.

It’s where I would find the books that filled my beach bag every summer and shopped for gifts every Christmas.

I found my first vegan cookbook here when I was desperately looking for recipes that had ingredients I was familiar with and it was one of the first places I went when I moved back from the west coast.

There’s just nothing like your hometown Barnes and Noble 🤍

Officially the worlds longest caption about a bookstore? Leave a favorite B&N memory if you made it this far ;)
